Methode

Method

Learn German in a lively way – step by step with the Birkenbihl method

To get straight to the point: Simply hearing or reading German occasionally won't get you very far in the long run. If you really want to master the language, integrate it into your everyday life – in small, manageable steps.

This way, you don't learn "for the next test," but for yourself – playfully, naturally, and without any tedious memorization. With every encounter, your feel for the language grows until German simply becomes second nature – like a part of your everyday life.

DECODE

Choose a short text, song, or dialogue in German. Translate each word literally into your native language. You'll be amazed at how quickly connections and structures become clear.

ACTIVE LISTENING

Listen to the same text carefully several times. Pay attention to pronunciation, intonation, and sound. Your brain will now begin to connect meaning and melody all by itself.

PASSIVE LISTENING

Play a recording of this text in the background: this could be music, a TV series, a podcast, or the news. Without pressure or effort, familiarize your ear with typical expressions and speech patterns.

ACTIVE ACTION

Bring German into your daily life!

Write shopping lists, notes, or to-do lists in German.

Solve various language quizzes and use German playfully together with native speakers and German learners at the next board game night.

Find a tandem partner to receive regular feedback.
